Every where you check about web designing, it will be told to you that content is the king. However, my argument is that how can content alone be responsible for making a website successful?
In fact, it is difficult to say that content or layout of the website is the most important parameter in web designing. If your website has excellent content but is not designed properly, the website will not be successful. The same is true vice versa.
For a website to be appealing in all respects, it is important to know the tastes of the website visitors. Today’s surfers are well-versed in Internet and browsing and in order to get regular visitors, you have to know what the visitors need, provide them with that and ensure that you keep on updating so that the visitors keep returning for more.
There is no doubt that content is important. If provides and explains your services and products. One should never compromise on content. This said, the content on a website should be clear and to the point. No one has time to read on and on. Your content can either hold the visitor’s attention or just put them off.
Once you have good content, it has to be presented to the visitors in such a way that it is appealing and attractive. If your content is presented nicely and beautifully, you can be sure that your visitors will return for more. An eye catching website can attract traffic but this will be just a temporary phase if the content is not equally attractive and regularly updated.
In conclusion, I would say that just having good content or an appealing website is not enough. You should try and find the right balance between the two. If good content is the soul of a website then appealing presentation of the content is body of that soul.
