In a sense, your domain name becomes your brand over time. Web sites surfers/visitors will identify you with your domain name. What this means is that a positively branded domain name means a lot of things in terms of quality, content-rich web site, stickiness and so on to the internet users. The onus rest on you to decide before you register any domain name what image or brand you wish to project in your online business.
Losing Your Domain Name
Often times, netpreneurs start their businesses on sound ideas only to cease operations in a couple of months or years. Reason? They say: “Lack of sales and money.” I don’t always agree with them. Why? This is my simple response. Businesses die because most businesspersons do not pay attention to details. Period! Imagine an entrepreneur registering a domain name for one year only to loose it the following year because he could not renew it by paying the required yearly fee. Not because there was no money to renew but because he was so busy as to forget to secure his house to “online marauders” who are scouting for domain names to snap. The effect is that your customers will go elsewhere. And you and I know how difficult it is to acquire new customers.
You can guide against losing your identity (domain name) by simply registering it on important dates in your life like on your birthday. That way you will be reminded of all the important activities that you need to execute within that period. To me losing a domain name is synonymous with losing customers to your competitors. Who knows, a trial with your competitors may never make them come back to you.
Marketing and Profiting from Domain Name
See domain name as the bigger product or service you offer/sell to your customers. This product contains all the ingredients of your e-books, special reports, articles, affiliate programs, adverts, joint ventures and all other activities. It is your brand, market and profit from it.
Let me drive home the message of this article with my personal story and experience. I graduated from the college with a degree in Accounting. In my home country, fresh graduates from the university are expected to do a one-year mandatory service for their country. What this means is that each graduate takes up an employment with a company (we call it “place of primary assignment”) that the government refers.
During this one-year period you are only paid a stipend that is barely sufficient to cater for your living expenses. But after the one year period, you can move on to take up paid employment elsewhere or remain at your place of primary assignment if the company you worked for wants to retain your service permanently. That is if they find you to be indispensable and hence appropriately review your pay. Now, immediately after my one-year service, I was looking for a job elsewhere while still working as my employer retained me. At least to earn bigger; I mean seeking for greener pastures.
For me, people know me for a BRAND-being well addressed. May be it is because of the motivational pieces I came across early in life. There is this one that always rings loud in my mind: “The way you dress is the way you are addressed.” So, while seeking for placements here and there, I was always spotlessly/immaculately clean. Personally, I see dressing well and looking good as an emblem. I don’t mean outlandish way of dressing-I mean simply gorgeous. Do you know what? I tell you. In four (4) places out of ten (10) where I seek employment, I was given offer on a platter of gold. Reason? Simply by being presentable all the time. Yes! My prospective employers told me. At least after the preliminary screening for my eligibility, every other process was a breeze.
The moral of this story is that “your brand will find you out of the crowd.”
In summary, my candid advice is that the choice of a domain name, your keywords, your sales copies, web site colors, products or services, marketing campaigns, etc and your presentations should not go without careful thought and vetting. This way you will be able to build your brand over time. Thereafter your brand will make you tons of money if that is your primary goal. Shalom!
You will excel!

How to Create a Free Home Based Business
Unless you’ve been camping out in the woods for the last few years, you’ve probably heard of the word ‘Blog’. This word is derived from what was formally known as web logging. Blogs used to be the domain of the internet geek, desperate to tell the world of their latest technological triumph. These days, the blog is a refined and polished tool which is used by many savvy home business owners to promote their products. Blogs represent an easy way to get traffic – search engines love constantly updated websites, and that is basically what a blog is. This article explores how a blog can be used to create a free home based internet business.
The first thing to do in deciding on a blog is to think of who is going to read it. You want get your audience interested, to the extent that they frequently visit it, and ultimately click on your Adsense, affiliate links, or even a link to your main website. Spend some time writing good content, and you will get repeat visitors.
You need to keep the content relevant to the particular niche it serves. Don’t go off at a tangent in a bid to promote the latest product you’re promoting. The modern day internet surfer is highly sensitive to marketing, and will know when he/she is being primed for a sale. Make sure you include long tail key phrases in your post – you have a better chance of ranking highly in the search engines, which will boost the numbers of casual visitors. Casual visitors can be converted to regular visitors, provided you have decent content.
Write in your own style – don’t be tempted to post articles you’ve found in an article directory. The visitor needs to feel like they are being communicated to by you, not reading some article. Even if you can’t think of much to write, 100 words in your own voice will be received much more positively than a 700 word article that someone with a degree in English wrote.
If you’re including affiliate links on your blog, why not use a pictorial adverts rather than a mere link? This will add colour to your blog, and will also make it look a bit more professional. Many affiliate programs these days provide graphics which you can use – if not, then just Photoshop some up!!
As you are probably aware, owning and maintaining a blog can be financially rewarding if go about it correctly. Before starting it, it would be a good idea to have some ready made content, which you can use to update it for the first few weeks. So spend some time writing some good quality content, enough to last for the first month or so of updates. This will give you the time to concentrate on technical aspects, like monetizing and driving traffic to your blog, turning it into your free home based internet business.

Dangerous When Hot
Don’t laugh but it looks to me like the good weather is going to show its face (at last) in the UK. We’ll be able to lower the roofs of our sexy sports cars or, if you don’t go in for two-seaters, wind down a window or two.
However, one word of warning, the hot weather, for some unknown reason, has been known to bring out the worst in people, proved the other day by the nice man who spat (yes that’s spat), into my wife’s open-topped car as revenge for some minor traffic infringement that only he could see from the window of his PSV.
OK, being stuck in an expensive tin can for a couple of hours is not the most comfortable of experiences but really, there’s no excuse for the kind of bad behaviour we witnessed. Not only is it stupid and in the case above unhealthy, it is also dangerous.
A moment of hesitation, a second of lost attention and before you know it, there’s a major accident. If you take the idiot above, he drove off at a ridiculous speed, tailgating the vehicle in front who must have wondered what was going on. And not only that, our spitting friend was in a frenzy, not the safest of conditions to be in when driving on busy roads.
So, if and when the hot stuff arrives, stay calm, get plenty of fresh air, remember you are not the only person driving on our clogged roads, and above all, resist the urge to spit at the car in front.

To Blog or Not to Blog - That Is the Question!
Hamlet, rather Shakespeare, please forgive me. The old Bard’s prose has never been more relevant when it comes to Internet Marketing. If you want to thrive on the Internet, and “not suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,” then read on.
The objective of a web site is to have as many people view it as possible, provide useful information to sell your products and services, and to make money.
One way to accomplish this is to drive traffic to your website. That means Blogging. It’s effective, painless and best of all easy to set up and maintain. For the uninitiated, a Blog is an online journal where you control the content and the postings. You can Blog about anything you think your audience will want to read. It can be your own articles, press releases, other people’s content, current happenings – both personal and business oriented, successful projects, events, testimonials, resources, etc. Plus, you will want to have the postings contain hyperlinks to other sites (more on this later).
The Longest Journey Begins with the First Step…
Switching from old English to this Chinese proverb, it’s easy to get started. For those "do-it-yourselfers", go to http://www.Blogger.com where you can learn about Blogging and set one up. Best of all, it’s FREE. Not only will you be Blogging right away, which we recommend doing as often as you can (realistically, at least once a week), but you will be able to archive articles or past Blog postings, import pictures, have email contact information, and a host of other useful features. Blogs can be set up as independent sites or integrated into your main website. We also recommend branding the Blog so it looks and feels like part of your site. You may have the ability to do this or your webmaster can assist you.
Does Size Matter?
Actually, the more you Blog (i.e. the bigger the Blog) the more traffic will flow to your website, and the more money you will make; or the more your message will get viewed. It all has to do with linking and search engines. First of all, the big search engines such as Google, Yahoo and MSN pay significant attention to Blogs. Their spiders are programmed to pick up the content. And the more you are spidered, the easier you are to find, thus the more traffic and higher rankings you will get, and will benefit from a stronger web presence.
You Are the Missing Link.
No I’m not calling you a Neanderthal or contradicting Darwin. I’m simply stating that to maximize the effectiveness of your Blog, you naturally need to create links. In the Biz we call it Natural Linking. Do the math. If Site A links to Site B, then A recommends B, therefore B has more value than a Site C (one that has no links to it) for search engines and their ranking system. Natural linking occurs when there are not only outbound links but inbound links as well (which have higher search engine value). The actual text of a link is in fact more important that the text in your website. Again search engines value link text more than content text.
For example, if your webpage contains information about the “worst president,” it will get spidered, but not nearly as often as using the hyperlink, such as:
http://google.com/search?q=worst+president+in+history So to summarize, Blogs are the best NEW resource of search engines because they use natural linking more extensive (thus more effectively) than the average web page.

Generate Interesting And New Content For Your Blog
People tend to dislike blogs with stale and uninteresting content. Bloggers often face a challenge of continuously adding new and interesting content to make their blog a happening site for people to visit. Below are some tips for the bloggers to overcome this challenge and find new sources for getting ideas about new and interesting content.
Browse The Internet To Know What Is Talked About
When you surf the net and visit other sites of successful fellow bloggers, you get an idea regarding what people are talking about. When you know the hot topics and write about them, then you have the content ready that people are looking for and are interested in. And if the quality of your writing is very good, the visitors may get a good impression about your site and may want to visit it again.
Google Trends To Find Hot Topics
Google trends offers you a facility to know what are the most searched items. When you get the most searched items, you can work out a topic to talk about from these items and start writing about these hot topics. These writings would attract increased number of readers. Continuously practising this would make your blog stickier and people would like to spend more time on your blog.
Look In Local Newspapers
Local newspapers are a good source to get an idea about the things that people would get interested to read in, especially if your blog has a target audience from your region. In case you have a target audience which is wider than your geographic location, this may still help since some event in your region maybe worth discussing with people and might attract the attention of your audience worldwide.
Invite People To Write On Your Blog
If you don't seem to get good ideas to write about, somebody else may have. You can invite other bloggers, or some other people who have an inclination towards writing, like authors, teachers, philosophers, etc. to write for your blog. You may provide them an idea about the topic or let them choose their own topic, which is in sync with your blog, to write for you.
Review Other Blogs
Another way of adding new content to your blog is to review other blogs. This would help you in many ways, first of all it will give you a variety of distinct content, secondly it would motivate reviewed sites to link back to your site hence providing you with visitors from their site, who would be interested to see what you have written about their favorite blogger. If these visitors like your blog, they may want to visit your blog again, hence giving you a continuous readership. The backlinks that you get from other sites would also help you to improve your page ranking with Google. This in turn adds to your credibility as a successful site. You can review my site and win $50 I would provide backlink to all the reviewers. You can visit my site for further information about reviewing my site and to find more tips on blogging.

Business Blogging With Candor and Sincerity
Advanced Summary - This article offers advice to small businesses on how to use a business blog for marketing purposes.
I am frequently extolling the virtues of using a business blog. In fact, I do it so often that I've created a list of business blogging benefits and best practices. I call it the "Business Blogging Alphabet," and this is the entry for 'C' -- candid.
When it comes to business blogging, it's refreshing to speak to your readers in an honest and open manner. In fact, if you do this, your blog readers will be more inclined to speak to you in response, which can lead to new business relationships and sales.
This is the beauty of using a business blog -- you can set it up to function as an online conversation rather than a lecture, simply by engaging your readers and allowing their comments. In this way, the business blog can achieve a level of candid and sincere interaction that's just not possible with a regular "static" website.
You could also recycle all of your email communications (with permission from the person on the other end) and use that for blogging material. This gives people a candid look at who you are, what you know, and how you help people. Once again, you won't get that kind of "real life" interaction from a regular business website.
In their marketing messages, a lot of companies say the same things about themselves -- integrity, dedication, client care, etc. These adjectives might be fitting, but they are only words in the minds of your audience. On the other hand, when you can show people these qualities (in person and online), you won't have to tell them you possess them. They'll already know.
If you are candid, sincere and professional in the way you use your business blog, you can achieve these things and much more.
Conclusion
As far as business communications go, consumer expectations have changed a lot over the years. Modern consumers want to part of the conversation online -- they don't want to be lectured to. A business blog can help you appeal to this expectation and position yourself favorably in the mind of your target audience.

Japanese "Kaizen" Principles for Blogging
In the world of Japanese management style, Kaizen means “change for the better” or “improvement”. Kaizen refers to the workplace strategy calls for never-ending efforts for improvement involving everyone in the organization – managers and workers alike. Generally, a Japanese management Kaizen team has two major components - maintenance and improvement. Each component has its specific functions. The maintenance function is to maintain current technological, managerial, and operating standards while the improvement function is aimed at improving current standards. These same principles can be applied to blogging. Here are ways you can apply “Kaizen” principles to blogging.
Let’s analyze Kaizen for blogging in terms of the Management and Improvement functions.
1. Management
For Kaizen, normally you should concentrate at improving the process rather than at achieving certain results. It is also a process that, when done correctly, it helps to eliminate overly hard work (both mental and physical), and teaches people on how to learn to spot and eliminate wasteful processes. A good blogger should possess the following management skills:
# Time Management
Time management helps you to work on the most worthy tasks and to get through them quickly. Time management is not some obscure notion but an important blogging strategy that can be followed to gather a huge amount of success. Many bloggers have failed because they are inefficient and time management can increase that efficiently. Knowing how to manage your time effectively will help you achieve the goals you want with the least amount of effort.
# Maximize Blogging Effectiveness
Every blogger puts a lot of effort in creating a blog and then posting content regularly but then its even more important that the content is read by many people.
# Keywords
Always try to build an understanding of the keywords used in your blog. You should also understand how your blog’s unique characteristics and how your blog can fit in with the current concerns of your audience. This understanding will help you to develop content and also target conversations.
2. Improvement
Under the improvement function, a blogger should work continuously towards revising the current standards, once they have been mastered, and establishing higher ones. Improvement can be broken down between innovation and Kaizen. Innovation involves a drastic improvement in the existing process and requires large investments. Kaizen signifies small improvements as a result of coordinated continuous efforts. Areas that require constant improvement for a blog are:
# Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via search results. A blog that is ranked higher in a search engine result page, will have more searchers visit the blog. A good blogger should always pay attention to the latest SEO techniques in order to fully optimize one’s blog for search engines. A high search engine ranking is also essential for better blog revenues.
# Writing Skills
Blogging is about writing. In order for you to publicize your blog content, you should always strive to improve your writing skills. While most people think of writers as infinitely talented, living in some rarified air denied to the rest of us, writing is a learned skill. While some people are indeed born more talented with the written word than others, most people can become better writers simply through practice. Blogging is as good a practice field as any.
# Internet Marketing
Your blog does not serve a good function if it is not marketed properly. Without the proper marketing, you may end up having limited number of readers. You should learn some basic marketing tips for your blog. Some of the basic marketing techniques are like joining a blog network e.g., mybloglog, 9rules etc, submit your blog to directories, have a contest, create links and trackbacks and many more.
True to the principle of Kaizen, you should always strive for small improvements for your blog. A continual small improvements and standardization yields large results in a form of compound productivity improvement.

My Blogging Timeline - The Journey so Far - Part 2
Following on from yesterdays post - Part 1…
There were 2 blogs that I found that helped me more than the rest (and still do), and first introduced me to structuring blogs from a business point of view, planning them and promoting them using business and marketing techniques. They are Problogger.net by Darren Rowse and Entrepreneurs-journey.com by Yaro Starak. They are both packed with help and information about blogging, from their wealth of experience and knowledge. I also subscribed to the Blog Traffic King newsletter through Entrepreneurs-journey.com giving tips on traffic generation for your blog.
These were all pieces of the jigsaw but there were still gaps, I wanted somebody to take me by the hand and guide me through. While trying to find more information, I was finding it hard to keep up with the posting and marketing that I wanted to do. I was wondering if what I was doing was helping me or not, and that all added to the frustration. As I said early I was also subscribed to some internet marketers newsletters, and they were telling me that to get anywhere I needed help, I couldn’t do it on my own without a lot of trouble and it would take a long time to achieve anything. Great! They were saying I needed a mentor, and that happened to be them. But I didn’t want a mentor for internet marketing in general I just wanted one for blogging. Wouldn’t that be great, someone who could show me step by step how to build a successful blog. But there was no one out there.
Then in March I received an interesting edition of the Blog Traffic King newsletter, Yaro Starak was asking if anyone would be interested in a blog mentoring program ran by him. Would I! would have been an understatement. I just had to wait and see if it came off. I had to wait till June when Blog Mastermind was launched and I joined up straight away.
I’ve been in the program a month now and I am absolutely bowled away by the information and help I have received (I will go into more about Blog Mastermind in another article). Only one of my original 3 blogs still survives - Create Blogs. I used it as a starting point and somewhere to practice my newly acquired skills. But you wouldn’t recognise it after having the Blog Mastermind treatment. That’s why I have moved it from Blogger to Wordpress and it has now turned into the blog you are reading today - Build a Blog.
And that’s where I am now, enjoying the community, help and information I receive from Blog Mastermind and it’s members. I am looking forward to the future and creating and building my photography blog that I have wanted to do for so long. But I now know I have the support, firm foundations and structure that I looked for, and craved for so long. So here’s to my new challenges and their rewards, I’ll keep you updated. I’ll keep blogging and I’ll see you soon.

So What Is This Blogging Anyway?
You hear about it everywhere these days. Blog this, blog that. Just what is it and why should you know? Well it is only one of the most interesting and effective means of communicating in today's modern age. Sorry I don't want to understate it.
Sure there are millions of folks putting out blogs [web logs, think of a diary of sorts but not private] that are full of crap and are not worth any time spent reading them[commonly referred to as splogs or spam blogs whose sole aim is to get you to click on their links to make them money or to provide links to other sites for search engine ranking]. However there are also thousands of creative people writing blogs every week that give out terrific information [like this one hopefully], insights, and creative works.
There are blogs by famous writers who share their words with us for free, there are blogs that explain how to do important things, and there are blogs that just allow you to create a community around your interests. Now that can be a good thing.
So when I first approached the idea of creating a blog I was at a loss about what to put in it. I was not one for baring my soul in a blog format. Just not my cup of tea. So I thought and thought until I realized there was an area that I cared about that I wanted others to care about and it so happens I could use some more education myself. So I started a blog about alternative energy and how to use it in one's personal life. It now gets lots of readers, tons of traffic and I feel like I am contributing in some fashion to the greater good. How can that be bad?
There are ways to create a blog that are super simple and require almost no technical knowledge such as Blogger.com. They host the blog and you create a blog using their templates and such so that you don't have to get into any sort of code if you don't want. Wordpress.com also allows you to create simple to build blogs hosted on their server. These are great ways to get rolling.
Then when you want to run the whole show and really get creative with the look and feel of your blog [not always necessary since the words are the most important thing] you can build a blog using a variety of available software such as Wordpress, Typepad, Pivot Log,and others. In these instances you host the blog on your own hosting account and you build it from the ground up. Nothing too hard here at least until you start to dig under the covers to customize. That sounds like working on cars doesn't it? Nice and easy just changing the oil and then when you want to soup it up things get a little more challenging.
Some people are making their good living simply writing about what they love several times a week and building a solid audience for their words. Sounds pretty cool to me.
But that is what we love to do. Help you build your site, your blog and learn the skills it takes to create a custom site that really shines and which visitors flock to check out your content. You see the White Hat Guys know how to teach you the skills and they will stick by your side as you do it.

Internet Marketing Tip - Blogging is More Powerful than You Think!
If you are not blogging EVERY day, you are missing out on 1,000’s of potential visitors to your website. Here’s why…..
Blog every day. Whether you are hosting a blog on your own website, or using one of the free hosting services, it is extremely important that you blog every day. If you are still one of those businesses that don’t have a blog yet, I would hire someone to install one on your website immediately. Or, if you have the know-how you can always install it yourself for free.
Why are blogs important? Blogs aren’t just important, they are the most vital business tool you could possible own. Here’s a few reasons why:
* Unlike your average website, blogs have special RSS software built in them that instantaneously tell “subscribers” the second you write something new. Some blogs have tens of thousands of subscribers. Except for email, what other tool can send a message out to tens of thousands of people at a time. Imagine what that would do for your traffic and sales.
* Blogs also have software that tells you every time another site is linking to you. Within a click, you can tell the exact website that is linking in. The more sites you have linking in, the higher your website will be in the search engines.
* Blogs are extremely customizable. In my blog, I have it that if I want to run an ad in every post, I can do it with a click of a button. If I want to add a signature to every post I can also do that with a click. Blogs are so incredible, that you can send a post to your blog via Email.
* When your blog becomes popular, other bloggers will take notice and start linking to you. They will literally be directing people to your website or blog. Why do they do this? For some, it’s because they like your content. For others, it’s because they hope you will link back to them. Either way, it’s a community of people helping each other build traffic.
More powerful than you think.
As the title of this article suggests, blogs are more powerful than you. There are literally 1,000’s of “plug-ins” that you can install into your blog that will make it more tempting for people to return to your site. Remember, the more people that come to your site, the higher your search rankings will be. The higher your search rankings, the more people will come to your site. It’s a “catch 22” in reverse. It is beautiful.
